Seriously. Well, sort of, maybe. Our own J-Rose dropped a sarcastic comment (it’s #7) saying every Devil Ray except Manager “Coach Joe” Maddon was now sporting a mohawk.
But several Boston and Tampa media outlets are reporting that Maddon REALLY DID get his own mohawk cut after last night’s series opener. So far this is the closest to photographic evidence we have:
The pic comes from Tampa’s Channel 10, which reports on their site:
The Devil Rays manager decided to go with the “Hawk” after last night’s game. The team stylist (didn’t know one existed) stayed late and clipped Maddon’s hair into his own version of the hawk. His is not as pronounced and can be turned unnoticeable if he brushes his hair to the side.
Upton noticed Maddon had gone with the hawk and said, “not a lot of managers would do that, that’s why his is unique.”
Joe Maddon, the coolest manager in baseball, was sporting his new Mohawk haircut during batting practice today. The skipper joins a growing number of his players who have gone the Mohawk route….
I’m still waiting for better photos before deciding if Maddon’s mohawk really counts, but still can anyone doubt he’s the coolest manager in baseball? He could very well be the coolest manager/coach in any sport in any era in any country in the history sport, eras and countries.
If you see better pics or videos of Maddon’s mohawk, or any other Devil Ray mohawks please contact Bugs & Cranks immediately or drop it in the comments.
