Hey Joe, can Aceves start now? Please!

So, Joe Girardi tell me again why Al Aceves does not have enough experience to replace either Darrell Rasner or Sidney Ponson in the New York Yankees starting rotation?

I didn’t watch much of the game last night. I was busy live-blogging the New York Giants’ season-opening victory over Washington. That was a much better use of my time.

Anyway, all you have to do is look at the box score.

  • Rasner: 1.1 IP, 6 hits, 5 ER.
  • Aceves: 5 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER.

If Aceves does not replace Rasner the next time that spot comes around in the Yankee rotation that’s a joke.

With last night’s loss, the Yankees ought to start looking at all other pitching possibilities that don’t include the words Rasner and Ponson. The fat lady is tunning up.

Ed, I think you other point is valid. The Gaints are a much better use of of any Yankee’s time at this point. That is unless you are Peter Abraham. I just give thanks for 18-1.

Does Peter ever contribute comments to your entries?

    Anyone but Ponson!

Aceves is the logical choice, although Hughes or Wright could be activated. Rasner served his purpose when he first came up, a few quality starts, but it is obvious he is now in over his head. Time to thank him for services rendered and try something else.

Hey Ed, do you lead Bugs and Cranks in the number of comments per post? Looks like you’ve been averaging at least 7-8 sponses per post. Or is it that the Yankee fans are more blog oriented than other fans? Just curious.

Ed leads because he says stupid shit like ‘Wang is the 7th best pitcher in baseball’, ‘The Sox traded for Youkalis’, and, preseason: ‘The Yankees have a shot at a 27th World Series title. Your team doesn’t’, and some people luv that crazy shit. It is said that most LoHudians have a picture of Ed on their mantles.

Coops, I really don’t know the answer to that question. Despite what ‘Dirty’ says I’m not here to say stupid stuff. I’m here to have an opinion, try to frame my point rationally and have a decent discussion. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong … but I enjoy decent, adult discussion of the teams I love. That’s all I’m trying to create. I hate the ‘Dirty Water’ style sophomoric ‘your team sucks and mine is great’ crap. As for Pete Abe, I think he is the best Yankee beat writer in the business. The fact that I share a lot of his opinions is fine with me.

Pete’s okay, even if he is a Patriots fan!

Other question: I noticed here in NYC a fair number of Mets fans that are NY Giants fans. That’s something I don’t quite get as:
    – Jets/Mets shared Shea Stadium while Yankees/Giants shared Yankee Stadium
    – Jets/Mets were expansion teams while Yankees/Giants are much older teams with longer histories
    – Jets/Mets in their earlier days were lead by young payers with star quality – Namath, Seaver
    – Jets/Mets both won their first championship within the same 12 moth period – 68/69 and ’69
    – Jets/Mets name rhyme (okay, that last one was insipid, but I could not resist).

Obviously the most important phenomina or trend (if it is even that as it’s from a biased sample), but just something I pondered on the way to Wall Street the other day. Your thoughts on odd baseball/football fan pairings?

Hmm … gotta think about that … might be worth a post once i give it some thought.
