I just got finished watching the Phillies press conference/runway show that was broadcast live on MLB.tv where they displayed the new 2008 Alternate Home Jersey in public for the first time.
They’re practically the same exact design as the drawings I showed yesterday, but actually look a little better in person.
The unveiling was hosted by former Action News anchor and current Director of Public Affairs for the Phillies, Scott Palmer, and featured the runway stylings of ex-Phillie Robin Roberts, current Phils Cole Hamels & MVP Jimmy Rollins, and of course, the Phillie Phanatic.

ANOTHER UPDATE: More pictures!
Like I said yesterday, these are an homage to the home jerseys worn by the Phillies during the 1946-1949 seasons. This year, they will be worn for every home day game at Citizens Bank Park.
“It’s a throwback uniform with a modern touch,” said David Buck, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Advertising Sales. “It has been a while since we wore a uniform at home that didn’t feature pinstripes. We believe the fans will love them. Additionally, the alternate jerseys will be made out of a ‘cool base’ fabric that provides for better comfort for our players.”
And obviously, these jerseys are already available for purchase starting today at the Majestic Clubhouse Store located at Citizens Bank Park, or through the Phillies Store on MLB.com.
Here’s a shot of Mitch Williams wearing the full 1948 old school uni. You can tell it’s the older one by the fat “P” on the cap and the awkward-looking “h” on the jersey. Thanks to commenter Mike for the pic.
