Despite Milwaukee’s month-long slide (including two consecutive losses to the Nationals) and rash of injuries in the rotation, the team is still realistically in contention for the NL Central as well as the Wild Card. But if your sole source of Brewers news comes via Journal Sentinel Brewers beat writer Tom Haudicourt’s Twitter page, well, the season is already over, nothing will ever improve and you should probably think about forming a suicide pact with loved ones.
I think Twitter is a dumb trend that has already outlived its 15 minutes of Web-based fame, but I must admit that I check a handful of accounts to gain gripping insight on such prevalent news items as Barry Zito’s paranoia, Matt LaPorta’s utter absence of personalityand whatever morsels of Brewers info sad-sack Haudricourt can lend me.
Lately, with a deadline approaching and the most important months of the season upon us, Haudricourt has seemed to conceded the Brewers season… in 140 or fewer characters. Odd, I thought his job was to objectively report – not speculate and shit on everything at first sign of struggle. Some highlights:
The starting pitching is bleeding the Brewers to death, drip by drip, game by game. Picking up one starter in a trade won’t cure that.
This was the accurate assessment of the Brewers’ starting rotation by a scout tonight: “They’ve got 1 good pitcher — Gallardo.”
